Lifetime Achievement Award

NDISC Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Barry Posen

The Notre Dame International Security Center's Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the theory and practice of international security affairs, broadly defined. Such contributions can come from a policy-engaged scholar, like our first two awardees, or a current or former practitioner who consistently reflects on his or her experience from a deep historical or a broad conceptual perspective. In April 2019, in celebration of our center’s tenth anniversary, the faculty, fellows, and students of NDISC were pleased to award Barry Posen, Ford International Professor of Political Science and Director of the Security Studies Program at MIT, with the first NDISC Lifetime Achievement Award. In December 2023, NDISC presented its second Lifetime Achievement Award to Robert Art, Christian A. Herter Professor of International Relations at Brandeis University.
