D.G. Kim is currently an Inequality in America Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University and received his PhD from the University of California San Diego in 2022. His research investigates race and International Relations Theory, focusing on the intersection between domestic racism, foreign policy preference, and the U.S.-China great power rivalry.

His current book project, Race in International Politics: China’s Rise and the Weaponization of Identity in the Asia-Pacific, examines the role race and racism play in shaping the deepening U.S.-China great power competition, with a focus on the rise of hawkish foreign policy discourses and public opinion in the U.S., China, and America’s key regional allies including South Korea. Drawing from theories of international relations, political psychology, and race and ethnic politics, the project calls for renewed scholarly attention to theorizing race in world politics.
