Diana Wueger is a PhD Candidate in Political Science at the University of Chicago and a Faculty Associate for Research in the National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). She researches coercive statecraft and deterrence in international relations, with an emphasis on foreign policy decision-making and the political economy of security. In her dissertation project, she examines states’ use of secrecy around international arms transfers in order to gain insight into how states seek to mitigate their vulnerability to diplomatic and economic coercion. She also publishes on nuclear deterrence and strategic stability; U.S. maritime strategy; and security dynamics in Southern Asia. In addition to her academic pursuits, she has over a decade of experience organizing Track 1.5 and Track 2 strategic dialogues for U.S. government sponsors on topics related to international and regional security, particularly nuclear stability and nuclear safety and security.
