Brian DeToy is a retired US Army officer and former Academy Professor and Director of the Defense & Strategic Studies program at the United States Military Academy, West Point from 2007-13. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA in History in 1985 and received MA and PhD degrees in History from Florida State University.
In his post-military career, DeToy and his wife, Sheryl, have built a travel company, Essential History Expeditions, and led numerous groups to visit battlefields and tour historic cities and other sites, from the beaches of Normandy and Cuba to the cities and jungles of Vietnam; from the Battle of the Bulge to South Africa and many sites of the American Revolution and Civil War, and more. In addition, DeToy is engaged in numerous writing projects – travel, fiction and non-fiction.
